Compliance Status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard, due to the non-compliances and exemptions listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons.

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

The following issues do not meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 AA standard. We plan to resolve these by 31st March 2025, ensuring future updates meet accessibility standards.

  1. Headings: We are adding appropriate heading markup to some pages which do not have correctly applied heading elements, meeting WCAG 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships), by March 2025.

  2. Form Elements: We are associating checkboxes, radio buttons, and dropdowns with visible labels where they are not announced clearly, meeting WCAG 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships), by March 2025.

  3. Tabs: We are implementing native tab components for tabs on the Job Bag screen, which are currently announced as links, meeting WCAG 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships), by March 2025.

  4. Hidden Elements: We are applying ARIA-hidden attributes to collapsed menu content to remove it from the tabbing order, meeting WCAG 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships), by March 2025.

  5. Hover Content: We are improving hover interactions where messages cannot currently be dismissed or hovered over, meeting WCAG 1.4.13 (Content on Hover or Focus), by March 2025.

  6. Keyboard Operability: We are ensuring all interactive elements are fully operable using a keyboard, meeting WCAG 2.1.1 (Keyboard), by March 2025.

  7. Page Titles: We are adding descriptive titles to pages that currently lack them, meeting WCAG 2.4.2 (Page Titled), by March 2025.

  8. Focus Visibility and Order: We are improving the visibility of focus indicators, correcting the focus sequence, and ensuring newly displayed elements receive focus, meeting WCAG 2.4.3 (Focus Order), WCAG 2.4.7 (Focus Visible), and WCAG 2.4.11 (Focus Not Obscured), by March 2025.

  9. Automatic Context Changes: We are adding screen reader announcements for user actions that change context, meeting WCAG 3.2.2 (On Input), by March 2025.

  10. Interactive Elements and Messaging: We are adding meaningful labels to buttons and links, and other elements to ensure their purpose is clear, ensuring screen readers announce changes in state, addressing WCAG 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value), by March 2025.

  11. Status Messaging:  We are making error and success messages assertive so they are announced by screen readers, addressing WCAG 4.1.3 (Status Messages), by March 2025.

Disproportionate Burden

Some issues are currently a disproportionate burden to fix, including:

  • Colour contrast for subscriber-chosen themes.

  • Table reflow on the Requirements Dashboard.

  • Missing focus indication and keyboard navigation in the third-party Help Widget.

We will monitor these issues for formal reassessment in 2027.

Content that’s not within the scope of the accessibility regulations

The accessibility regulations do not require us to fix PDFs and Documents published before 23 September 2018 unless they are essential to our services. All new documents will comply with accessibility standards.
